His name was Henry VIII and he famously had six wives throughout his tumultuous reign. This story has been told and retold countless times but none quite like the 1972 film “Henry VIII and His Six Wives.”
Directed by Waris Hussein, this epic film features an all-star cast including Richard Burton as Henry VIII, Charlotte Rampling as Anne Boleyn, Jane Asher as Jane Seymour, and many more talented actors. The plot follows the tumultuous life of Henry VIII as he marries and subsequently executes six wives in his quest for a male heir to secure the Tudor dynasty.
The first wife of Henry VIII was Catherine of Aragon played by Irene Papas. Catherine gave birth to several children but unfortunately all were stillborn except for one daughter named Mary.
